Well kept campground. Sites are right along the water. Perfect for paddlers like myself.
We spent the day before thanksgiving here. The area was pleasant even in the fall but you could tell it would be much nicer in the warm weather. You could walk right down to the water and walk in. Where we were didn’t have any ‘beach’, the woods just ended and the water began. Turning our camper van around was easy as well, there was enough space.
I probably should have called first, but I showed up hoping to camp and fish a little. Every damn campsite on the lower loop was taken, or had a reserved sign for Fri,sat,sun dates. This was 2:30 pm on Saturday, and no one was in the reserved spots. Looked like a great place, but I won't waste my time again. I would not have thought I would need to reserve a primitive, $12 a night campsite. Besides that, as big as Badin Lake is, why aren't there hundreds of lakeside campsites?
So peaceful & relaxing. Fantastic hiking trails! Great fishing and water sports! Most sites have direct access to the water. It is just beautiful.
I've been to Badin Lake Campground 3 times over the last 3 years and it's always been a good experience. The lake is wonderful to swim in and hike around. There are good river canoeing spots nearby. I am writing this as several of the negative reviews mention the bathrooms and I'll add that this is a camp site - that has working bathrooms and hot showers! That is a plus, not something to be nitpicked.
